Two Factory Editions open KTM’s next motocross chapter
KTM has unveiled new 2027 250 SX-F and 450 SX-F Factory Editions. The manufacturer describes them as the first production look at its next SX generation, with changes across chassis, suspension, ergonomics, engines, exhaust and service access. KTM says the technical base will spread through the forthcoming 2028 SX range.
A lighter chassis changes more than the graphics
Both models use a redesigned frame with reduced weight, different geometry, a new steering head and revised engine mounting points. KTM also specifies its lightest aluminium subframe to date, a wheelbase that can be lengthened and a new CNC-machined triple clamp. Revised bodywork creates a slimmer profile and more leg contact area.
Spring suspension replaces the familiar air-fork headline
The Factory Editions receive revised WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks and a matching shock. KTM links the package to greater agility, stability, compliance and predictable feedback. Those are manufacturer claims; independent track testing will be needed before treating them as measured gains.
The 250 gets the deepest engine redesign
The 250 SX-F Factory Edition gains an oval throttle body and intake ports, top-feed injector and redesigned valve train. KTM lists a 15.5:1 compression ratio and a 14,500rpm limit. The engine sits 2.3mm higher in the frame, while a new ECU processes sensor data for ignition, fuelling and gear-dependent mapping.
The 450 arrives with published output figures
KTM claims 63.8hp at 10,000rpm and 52Nm at 7,000rpm for the 450 SX-F Factory Edition. Both bikes also receive a revised gearbox, cooling, airbox and exhaust, plus race parts from Brembo, EXCEL, NEKEN, ODI and WP Pro Components. Dealer availability varies by country; KTM has not published one Europe-wide price.
