The programme starts on the bike but does not stop there

The third FIM WMX Academy Weekend Training brought 14 female riders from France to Lacapelle-Marival on 22–23 May 2026. The official programme combined on-track coaching with technical guidance, physical preparation and educational sessions rather than treating lap speed as the only development target.

Two experienced coaches split the learning load

Former FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion and French Level 3 coach Livia Lancelot delivered the programme with MXGP Academy coach Jan Postema. Postema’s background includes 125cc and 250cc Grand Prix racing and the 1984 Motocross of Nations-winning team. The FIM lists their roles; it does not publish individual rider assessments.

Parents are part of the performance environment

The Academy also involved parents in education sessions, giving them advice and practical tools to support their daughters on and off the track. That matters because a developing rider’s routine, travel, preparation and confidence are influenced by the people around her, not only by the minutes spent riding.

An Academy participant returned as a champion

Lotte van Drunen visited the French weekend after having taken part in the first MXGP Academy programme created specifically for young female riders. By the 2026 event she was a two-time FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion, giving the participants a verified example of a pathway from development programme to the top of WMX.

Why the format is useful for European women’s racing

The FIM describes the French edition as one of several European events delivered with the FIM Academy, MXGP Academy and Infront Moto Racing. Its stated long-term purpose is to strengthen development routes, widen opportunities for girls and women and improve diversity in international motocross. This explainer uses the FIM’s published programme, not a claim that attendance guarantees results.
