Jonass is the first name on the 2027 entry list

Hawkstone International has confirmed Pauls Jonass as its first rider for the 2027 event on Sunday 21 February. The former MX2 world champion will race in the MX1 class at Hawkstone Park near Shrewsbury.

A factory Kawasaki pre-season start

The Latvian will begin his third season with Kawasaki Racing Team and is scheduled to ride the factory KX450-SR. Hawkstone takes place one week before the planned opening round of the 2027 MXGP season, making the British race an early competitive check for rider and machine.

Why Hawkstone remains useful to Grand Prix teams

The deep sand and demanding circuit have long made Hawkstone a pre-season test under real race conditions. Starts, traffic and changing lines reveal things that private testing cannot reproduce. That context explains the timing, without treating the event as a prediction of the world championship.

More names are still to come

Organisers say further rider announcements will follow. Euro MX Community records only Jonass as confirmed at this verification point and will not add rumoured entrants. The date, venue, class and factory Kawasaki programme are the facts currently on the official entry picture.
