Two IA1 starts produced two wins

Jeffrey Herlings won both IA1 races at the 64th MFJ-GP Motocross Championship finale at Sportsland SUGO in Japan on 1 November. The Dutch Honda HRC PETRONAS rider was making his first appearance in the All Japan championship's premier IA1 class.

Heat One was decided by more than a minute

Herlings led the opening 14-lap race in 27:23.523. Kainosuke Oshiro finished second, 1:02.632 behind, while Soya Nakajima completed the top three. Honda's report records Herlings taking the holeshot and opening an advantage of about four seconds on lap one.

The second margin grew to 1:13.839

Gota Otsuka took the initial holeshot in Heat Two, but Herlings moved into the lead early and completed the second 14-lap race in 27:34.789. Oshiro again placed second, this time 1:13.839 back, with Nakajima third.

The official records agree on the event

The Motorcycle Federation of Japan lists the meeting at Sportsland SUGO across 31 October and 1 November, with IA1 among the officially sanctioned classes. Honda's published classification supplies the finishing times and margins used in this briefing.

This result is a season coda, not a new title

The SUGO double followed Herlings' sixth world championship earlier in 2026, but it did not add another world title or decide the Japanese IA1 championship. Euro MX Community records the two race wins as a separate official result and makes no claim about a future return to Japan.
