Honda changes both MX2 seats for 2027
Honda HRC has confirmed Maxime Grau and Julius Mikula as its entirely new MX2 pairing for the 2027 FIM Motocross World Championship. Both riders are 20 years old and will race the CRF250R. The announcement confirms a complete two-rider reset rather than a single replacement.
Grau arrives with Honda experience
French rider Grau raced a CRF250R for Maddii Racing during 2026 and finished 11th in the MX2 standings. Honda also notes four earlier EMX250 podiums. His move places a rider already familiar with the motorcycle and some HRC personnel inside the factory structure.
Mikula brings the higher 2026 championship finish
Czech rider Mikula completed 2026 ninth in MX2, with fourth overall in Trentino named by Honda as his best Grand Prix result. The CRF250R will be new to him, so the official announcement frames his off-season around learning both the motorcycle and a new team environment.
Two routes meet in one development programme
The pair reach Honda HRC from different positions: Grau steps up from a Honda-supported team, while Mikula changes machinery after his strongest MX2 season. Team manager Marcus Pereira de Freitas describes both as young riders with potential, but Honda does not publish a guaranteed podium or championship target.
What is confirmed before the first gate
Honda confirms both riders, the MX2 class, the CRF250R and a programme of warm-up races before the world championship begins. Individual race schedules, final liveries and performance targets are not specified in the announcement. Euro MX Community will add those only when the team or championship publishes them.
