A new rung on the Sidecarcross ladder
FIM Europe will launch the European Sidecarcross Championship in 2027. The federation describes it as a development platform between national competition and the World Sidecarcross Championship, giving emerging crews a continental series of their own.
Three to six races beside the world series
The first season is planned to contain between three and six races, held alongside rounds of the World Sidecarcross Championship. That puts European crews on world-level circuits and inside the same paddock without presenting the new series as a replacement for the world championship.
The initial technical outline
FIM Europe says the championship will use sidecars powered by engines up to 500cc. Rider eligibility will follow the applicable FIM technical age rules. The announcement identifies a route for young and developing competitors while still allowing established crews within the published age framework.
Calendar and detailed rules remain open
No individual venues or dates have yet been confirmed, and the federation says the calendar and full regulations will follow. Euro MX Community therefore records the series launch, race-count range, world-paddock link and capacity limit without inventing a provisional schedule.
Why the championship matters
Sidecarcross asks two competitors to combine throttle control, steering, balance and constant movement as one unit. A defined European level creates an extra competitive step before the world series and gives national crews more opportunities to race on international tracks.
